My tension problems and some first proyects.

Updated: Mar 31

Now I'm going to tell you about my tension problems, not stress but tension with the wool. I think one of the best solutions is to practice, practice, practice, but it is true that sometimes some little tricks always help. The first thing I found researching on the internet was a "tension ring". They sell it on Amazon at a very good price and I must admit that it helped me a lot to become familiar with the knitting and get my fingers used to feeling the movement of the thread, the weight, etc. and get my hands used to the knitting process. I think it's useful for beginners, although I don't use it anymore because now I am used to knitting my way and I'm no longer tense when knitting.

However I think that one of the best tips for tension is one that I learned from #SantaPazienzia with a project for beginners: a single crochet neck . The video shows how we can control better the woll if we start knitting the thread that comes inside the ball, so that the ball doesn´t move and does not add more tension due its own weight at the time of kinitting. (It is also very comfortable because you prevent it from falling or moving aroung the surface where you are knitting.

In another post, I will tell you how my neck turned out, since I made some mistakes.

For now, I leave you another Santa Pazienzia for beginners with which I have done very well to practice single crochet and treble. A t-shirt yarn basket. I have used a roll or Hoooked cloth with 90% recycled cotton and 10% recycled fibers, quite hard, with little flexibility, which has helped give a consistent shape to the project. I have used a 9 mm crochet hook.

As I´m starting out, also following Tejidos Annabara Crochet, a fantastic crochet teacher and fabulous desginer, I made my first coaster in flat circular fabric, in 100% linen from the Järbo brand.
